The society was formed from part of Brighton Model Engineers in 1962. The aims of the Society are to encourage the building and operation of miniature steam locomotives as a hobby. The Society owns the 2,000 feet long miniature railway in Hove Park, which it operates in the summer months for the enjoyment of members and public alike. A small fare is charged to provide income that is used to help defray expenses.
Most of the locomotives and equipment used on the railway is built by members in their own workshops and the track was designed, built and is maintained by the membership, although professional help has been used for casting the new concrete sections used in the rebuilding following the hurricane damage in October 1987.
Membership currently stands at around 75 and we are always pleased to consider applications from interested persons.
For further details, please contact any of the Society Officers, Hove Park Railway's website, or ask any of the staff at the railway who will be pleased to help
