Who We Are
Hove Park Railway is run by a band of enthusiastic, steam loving bunch of volunteers who enjoy socialising, building, maintaining and running steam, electric and all sorts of other model engineering items.
As like any club we are open to new members. If you feel you can help maintain the track, check the tickets, make the tea or simply fancy something different to do, just click the button below.
The society was formed from part of Brighton Model Engineers in 1962. The aims of the Society are to encourage the building and operation of miniature steam locomotives as a hobby. The Society owns the 2,000 feet that's 610 meter long miniature railway in Hove Park, which it operates in the summer months for the enjoyment of members and public alike. A small fare is charged to provide income that is used to help pay the bills.
Most of the locomotives and equipment used on the railway are built by members in their own workshops and the track was designed, built and is maintained by the membership, although professional help has been used for casting the new concrete sections used in the rebuilding following the hurricane damage in October 1987 and most recenly the new Tunnel, which you can read about in the Projects page.
